Hisar, 12 October (Hissar). The 35th All India Coordinated Spices Research Project Annual Group Meeting will be organized from October 15 to 17 at Haryana Agricultural University. Scientists from 40 centers of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research project in the country will participate in this meeting being jointly organized by the Department of Vegetable Science of the University and the Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Spices Research Institute, Kozhikode, Calicut, Kerala.
Dr. SK Tehlan, Head of the Department of Vegetable Science and Organizing Secretary of the meeting, said on Saturday that Dr. SK Singh, Deputy Director General (Horticulture), Indian Council of Agricultural Research, will be the chief guest in the inaugural ceremony of this meeting, while the meeting will be presided over by the Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. . BR will do the combos. Former Deputy Director General (Horticulture), Dr. N. was present as the special guest. Krishna Kumar, Dr. VA Parthasarathy and ADG Dr. Sudhakar Pandey will be present.
According to project coordinator Dr. D. Prasath, the research work done by scientists in the past years will be reviewed in this meeting. Besides, a draft plan for the work to be done in the coming year will also be prepared. He said that in various sessions to be organized in this meeting, scientists will discuss in detail about improvement of spice varieties, their production technology, yield, protection from insects and diseases. In the last session of the meeting, new varieties researched by scientists, new methods of increasing production and protection will be presented.
