Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University: Purvanchal University is located in Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh. A shocking case of the teachers there has come to light. Four students have passed the pharmacy exam with 56 percent marks after writing 'Jai Shri Ram' and names of cricket players in the answer sheet instead of answering the questions. At present, the sword of action is hanging against both the accused teachers who committed such an act. In this case, former university student Divyanshu had sought information under the Right to Information Act.
Former student demands revaluation
Alumni Divyanshu provided the roll numbers of 18 D-Pharma 1st semester students who wanted to re-evaluate their answer sheets on 3rd August 2023. After which the university asked to provide copies of 58 answer sheets but only 42 answer sheets were provided.
In response to information sought under the Right to Information Act, a copy of the answer sheet was provided to the student. In the copy of bar code number 4149113, the student had written, 'Jai Shri Ram paas hi jaaye'. Apart from this, names of players like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya etc. were written. When these students wrote Jai Shri Ram and names of cricket players instead of writing the answers to the questions in the answer sheet, the university teachers passed them by giving them 42 marks out of 75 i.e. 56 percent marks. Similar case was found in the answer sheet of bar code 4149154, 4149158, 4149217. These students were also passed.
Former student Divyanshu has filed a complaint with the Raj Bhavan along with an affidavit. It has been alleged in the complaint letter that the students have been passed after taking money. Taking cognizance of the complaint, Raj Bhavan ordered investigation and action on 21 December 2023.
Two teachers were found guilty in the investigation
On the orders of Raj Bhavan, the university has constituted an inquiry committee to investigate the complaint. What came out in the investigation shocked everyone. In the answer sheets sent to Raj Bhavan, more marks were given in 50 out of 80 answer sheets. When the answer sheets were reevaluated, zero marks were awarded by the external examiners. Meanwhile, the complaint of the former student turned out to be true.
What did the Chancellor say?
In this case, the Chancellor of Purvanchal University said that action will be taken against both the accused teachers of the Pharmacy Department.
