39th All Assam Taekwondo Championship begins, 39 teams from the state are participating

Guwahati, May 19 (HS). The 39th Inter-District Taekwondo Championship began on Sunday at the Patriot Tarun Ram Phukan Indoor Stadium of RG Baruwa Sports Project. The tournament was inaugurated by Bolin Chetia, one of the senior MLAs of Assam Assembly and President of Assam Taekwondo Association. Around 1200 athletes from 39 teams of the state participated in it.

Speaking at the inauguration of the tournament, MLA Chetia said that Taekwondo is one of the most popular sports of Assam. He said that under the sports policy of the Assam government led by Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, providing employment to medal winners at the Goa National Games will encourage the athletes of Assam to focus on Taekwondo.

This competition is being organized in male and female cadet, junior and senior categories. Teams participating in both Kirogi and Pumse categories included Assam Police Spot Control Board, Bajali, Baksa, Barpeta, Biswanath, Bokakhat, Bongaigaon, Cachar, Charaideo, Chirang, Darrang, Dhanshree, Dhemaji, Dhubri, Dibrugarh, Dima-Hasao, Goalpara. , Golaghat, Hailakandi, Hojai, Jorhat, Kamrup, Kamrup (Metro), Karimganj, Lakhimpur, Majuli, Moran, Morigaon, Nagaon, Naharkatiya, Nalbari, Rangiya, Sivasagar, Sonitpur, South Salmara, Mankachar, Tamulpur, Tinsukia, Titabar and Udalgadi.
