Ghaziabad: Another important project is going to be added to the rapidly growing expressway network in Uttar Pradesh. This expressway to be built from Ghaziabad to Kanpur will not only make the journey easier but will also give a new direction of development to the 9 districts connected to it.

Ghaziabad-Kanpur Expressway

This 380 km long greenfield expressway is being constructed from Ghaziabad to Kanpur, which has been named 'Ghaziabad-Kanpur Expressway'. This expressway will reduce the distance from Ghaziabad to Kanpur to a great extent. Currently the journey from Delhi-Ghaziabad to Kanpur takes 7 to 8 hours. Whereas after the construction of this expressway, the journey will be only 5.30 hours.

9 districts will be connected by this expressway

This expressway will connect 9 major districts like Ghaziabad, Hapur, Bulandshahr, Aligarh, Kasganj, Farrukhabad, Kannauj, Unnao and Kanpur. This will not only ease traffic, but industrial centers will also be established in these districts. Special areas for industries are being identified in the expressway plan, which will promote regional development.

Greenfield Expressway…

Ghaziabad-Kanpur Expressway is a greenfield project, which will have initial construction of 4 lanes but can be expanded to 6 lanes in future. Its special thing is that this expressway can also be connected to Jewar Airport of Noida in future, which will further strengthen the connectivity of Kanpur.

Traffic management will improve

This expressway will connect to NH-9 (Ghaziabad-Hapur Highway) in the north and Kanpur-Lucknow Expressway in the south. Earlier there was a plan to build this project from Hapur to Kanpur, but now a 60 km long connector road will be built to connect Hapur to Meerut Expressway, which will provide better connectivity to both Hapur and Meerut.

Expected to be completed by 2026

The construction work of this expressway has started. According to media reports, it is planned to be completed by 2026. With the construction of the expressway, access from Delhi-NCR to Kanpur as well as other cities of UP will become easier, which will bring a big change in the traffic and industrial scenario of the state.
