300 in Test, 200 in ODI and 100 in T20I: Only 2 batsmen in the world could do this miracle.

In the history of international cricket, scoring a century in all three formats is considered a big achievement for any batsman, but crossing the limits of individual highest score in all three different formats of the game and scoring a triple century in Test, double century in ODI and a century in T20 International is such a rare feat that very few players can even imagine. England’s young aggressive batsman Harry Brook has created a stir in world cricket by scoring a stormy double century in ODI cricket. With this historic innings, Brook has joined the very exclusive club of the great West Indies batsman ‘Universe Boss’ Chris Gayle, who holds the unique record of scoring more than 300 in Tests, more than 200 in ODIs and a century in T20Is. In the long journey of 149 years of cricket history, till now no other great player of the world could reach this position.

In the exciting ODI match played between England and Sri Lanka, Harry Brook hit such fireworks of fours and sixes all around the field that the opposition bowlers looked helpless. Brook played a marathon and destructive innings of 202 runs facing only 116 balls. During this innings, he hit 21 skyscraper fours and 10 giant sixes. Brook completed his double century in just 114 balls, which has now become the fastest double century in the history of One Day International (ODI) cricket. Earlier this world record was held in the name of Indian star batsman Shubman Gill, who completed his double century in 117 balls. With this, Harry Brook has become immortal in the pages of history by becoming the first batsman in the history of English cricket to score a double century in the ODI format.

This aggressive style of Harry Brook is not limited only to limited overs games, but he has already proved his mettle in red ball cricket also. In the historic Test match played against Pakistan in Multan in October 2024, Brook played an amazing triple century of 317 runs in 322 balls. In that match, he along with Joe Root made a record partnership of 454 runs for the third wicket, which gave a new height to the modern aggressive style in Test cricket. After scoring a triple century in Tests, now by completing a double century in ODIs, he has firmly registered his name among the most dangerous and versatile batsmen of the modern era.

Before Harry Brook, this unimaginable record was recorded only in the name of former explosive West Indies opener Chris Gayle. Gayle had the distinction of scoring a triple century twice in Test cricket during his golden international career. He played an inning of 317 runs against South Africa in 2005 and then scored a huge score of 333 runs against Sri Lanka in 2010 at Galle ground. In limited overs games, Gayle scored a devastating double century of 215 runs against Zimbabwe in Canberra during the ICC World Cup 2015. Apart from this, Gayle established his dominance in all three formats by scoring a century against South Africa in the inaugural match of the World Cup (2007) in T20 International cricket.

With the rapid expansion of T20 cricket, the aggressiveness of the batsmen has definitely increased, but very few players have the technique, mental fortitude, physical stamina and ability to change aggressive gears required to score 300 runs in Test, 200 runs in ODI and a century in T20I. Legends like Rohit Sharma, Virender Sehwag and Sachin Tendulkar made big records in ODI and Test, but till now only Chris Gayle and Harry Brook have had the fortune of touching these three milestones in all three formats simultaneously. After this historic innings of 22 October 2026, cricket analysts believe that this achievement of Harry Brook has become a benchmark for batsmen of many generations to come, crossing which will prove to be the biggest challenge for any player.
