Actress Sushmita Sen has shared a post on the occasion of completion of 30 years of winning the title of 'Miss Universe'. Sushmita posted an old picture on Instagram on Tuesday and wrote a long note. On 21 May 1994, Sushmita became the first Indian woman to win the title of Miss Universe.
In this throwback photo, Sushmita is seen holding a child in her arms and smiling at him. She wore a white dress and sash. Sharing this photo, Sushmita wrote, 'This little girl found in the orphanage taught me the most innocent but profound lesson of life, which I am still living today. Today marks 30 years of this moment and India's first victory in Miss Universe!!'
Sushmita further said, what a wonderful journey it has been and continues to be… Thank you India for always being my biggest identity and strength!! Thank you Philippines for the endless love and affection….

Sushmita Sen won the title of Miss Universe in 1994. After this Yukta Mukhi, Lara Dutta and recently Harnaaz Sandhu won this title. During the 1994 event, Sushmita was asked in the final round, 'What does being a woman mean to you?' She said, 'Being a woman is a gift given by God, which we all should appreciate. A woman is a mother, she shows a man what it means to be caring, inclusive and loving. This is the essence of being a woman.
