Ministry of Road Transport and Highways: The Modi government is mentioning the construction of highways and expressways in its report card of two terms. Infrastructure has also developed rapidly in many states including Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra. Now in the third term also, the NDA government is focusing on infrastructure. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has sought approval from the Cabinet for an investment of Rs 22 lakh crore.
The ministry says that it will build 30,600 km of highways in the country by 2031-32. The plan has been submitted to the Finance Ministry. According to this plan, there is a plan to build 18 thousand km long expressways and high speed corridors across the country.
Apart from this, there is also a plan to make 4 thousand kilometers of highways around cities jam-free. There is also a plan to build roads in border areas, which are very important from a strategic point of view.
According to the ministry's plan, 25 percent of this money will come from the private sector. According to the Road Transport Ministry, this plan has been prepared in two phases. Under the first phase, all tenders will be issued by 2028-29 and the work will be completed by 2031. These projects will require a capital of Rs 22 lakh crore.
