30 lakh laddus sold in first eight days of Tirupati's annual Brahmotsavam

Tirupati: 30 lakh laddus have been sold in the first eight days of the annual Brahmotsavam of Lord Venkateshwara Swamy temple situated on the Tirumala hills. The 9-day annual Brahmotsav concluded on Saturday.

Tirupati Tirumala Devasthanams (TTD) said around 1.5 lakh devotees visited the Tirupati temple in the first eight days. Out of which 3.5 lakh devotees participated on the day of Garuda Seva.

A TTD official said that in the first eight days of Brahmotsav this year, 30 lakh small ladles of prasad were sold at the price of Rs 50 per ladle.

Last year also the same number of laddus were sold. A statement issued by TTD, custodian of the world's richest Hindu temple, said the current year's hundi collection stood at Rs 26 crore, which is Rs 2 crore more than the same period last year.

This year, more than 26 lakh devotees were served food whereas last year during Brahmotsav, 16 lakh devotees were served food.

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu gifted silk clothes to Srivari Temple on behalf of the state government on the first day of Brahmotsav i.e. October 4.

An earlier report had said that the sale of laddus in Tirupati temple is continuing as before. 3.50 lakh laddus are sold every day in the temple. More than 14 lakh laddus have been sold in four days.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has alleged that the laddus of Tirupati Balaji temple contain animal fat. He targeted the YSRCP government. After this, the state government got the matter investigated and the lab report also confirmed the report of animal fat.
