There was a gas leak in a fish processing unit in Tamil Nadu. Due to which 30 female workers fell ill. It is being told that when the gas leaked, the female workers were inside the plant due to power failure. All the female workers who came in contact with them were admitted to the hospital.
The women workers came in contact with the gas during their shift at the fish processing plant and experienced various symptoms after exposure. The affected women experienced eye irritation, suffocation, dizziness and other disturbing symptoms. It is being told that 16 of the affected jawans are from Odisha.
500 women work in the fish processing unit
The incident took place at a private fish processing unit operating in Puthur Pandiyapuram area of Tuticorin, which processes fish and exports it abroad. More than 500 women from various parts of Tamil Nadu and other states work in this fish processing unit.
The female personnel have been admitted to the hospital for treatment
There are reports of gas leakage. For example, all the women workers were taken to AVM Hospital, Rajesh Tilak Hospital and Arulraj Hospital.

Currently, the incident is being investigated by police officials, who are conducting a preliminary inquiry to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the gas leak. A similar incident is reported to have occurred at this plant earlier as well. Further investigations are being conducted regarding the safety protocols within the plant
