3 Naxalites including 2 women killed in clash with police in Gadchiroli

Mumbai: Three Naxalites, including two women, were killed in an encounter with security forces in Gadchiroli, Maharashtra on Monday. Police recovered an AK-47 rifle, a carbine, an INSAS rifle, Naxalite literature and other material during the search operation. The Naxalites were preparing to attack the security agency when they were killed in the encounter.

It is noteworthy that currently six pressure cooker bombs and other explosives have been found buried in the ground in Gadchiroli. The police managed to find the explosives and avoided major casualties.

Superintendent of Police Neelotpal said that police received information that some members of Perimilly Dalam of Naxalites were camping in a forest area near Katrangatta village of Bhamragarh taluk to carry out an attack during their Tactical Counter Offensive Operation (TCOC).

Two teams of C-60 commandos, the special combat wing of the Gadchiroli police, were sent to search the area. These teams were running the search operation. Then the Naxalites opened indiscriminate fire on them. C-60 commandos gave a strong reply. He fired in self-defense.

After some time the firing stopped. Later, during searching in the forest, bodies of one male and two female Naxalites were found. The official said the dead included Perimili Dalam chief and Commander Vasu.

Anti-Naxal campaign has been launched in this area. Police have recovered weapons and Naxalite literature from the spot. Naxalites organize camps during March-June to strengthen their cadres and carry out major attacks on security forces.

Last week, during voting for the Lok Sabha elections in Maharashtra, a conspiracy to murder a policeman was foiled in Tipagarh area of ​​Gadchiroli. Special Anti-Naxal Squad, Central Reserve Police Force, Quick Reaction Squad, Bomb Detection and Investigation Squad seized the quantity of explosives buried in the ground by the Naxalites.

Security forces recovered six pressure cooker bombs, nine IEDs, three claymore pipes and other explosive materials. BDDS team destroyed these explosives. At present, the Lok Sabha elections were conducted smoothly in Gadchiroli amid heavy deployment of 15,000 police.
