Chinese space station: After spending six months aboard the Chinese space station Tiangong, three Chinese astronauts returned safely to Earth on Monday morning. The Shenzhou-18 spacecraft carrying Ye Guangfu Li Kang and Li Guangsu landed at the Dongfeng Landing Site in the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region at 124 hours local time. Astronaut Li Guangxu said he grew cherry tomatoes and lettuce on the space station.
He said that being able to eat fresh vegetables in space is truly a blessing. These plants also provide a feeling of greenery and maintain enthusiasm even during busy work hours. Shenzhou-18 mission commander Guangfu has become the first Chinese astronaut to fly in space for more than a year. He holds the record for the longest stay in orbit by a Chinese astronaut.
Japan successfully launches a defense satellite
Japan launched a defense satellite on Monday and successfully placed it in orbit. The country is considering increasing military capability amid increasing tension in the region. The deployed Kirameki No. 3 satellite uses X-band communications for information and data sharing, as well as military operations and command. X band satellites are less affected by weather conditions.
spacewalked twice
China had sent three of its astronauts to the space station on April 25. Shenzhou-18 is the 32nd flight mission of China's manned space program. Chinese astronauts performed spacewalks twice during their missions. The first spacewalk took place on 28 May. Meanwhile, Chinese astronauts set a record for the longest spacewalk. This space walk lasted for about eight and a half hours.
Aquarium ready
The second spacewalk was conducted on July 3. Meanwhile, astronauts Ye Guangfu and Li Kang did a spacewalk for about 6.5 hours. In space itself, Chinese scientists also built an aquarium for zebrafish in microgravity. Meanwhile, research found that in microgravity, zebrafish displayed unusual swimming behaviors such as swimming upside down and circling.
During this period, astronauts grew many crops and also did research on them. The Shenzhou-18 spacecraft separated from the space station at around 4 pm on Sunday evening. However, before departure the crew conducted a handover with the Shenzhou-19 crew. It was launched on October 30 for a mission of the next six months.
