An investigation by the Home Ministry and the state police found that 28,200 mobile handsets were being used in cyber crimes. After this, investigation by the Telecom Department revealed that about 20 lakh numbers were being used from this mobile phone. After this investigation, now the Department of Telecommunications has ordered the telecom companies to block these mobile phones across the country. Besides, 20 lakh mobile numbers linked to this phone have also been asked to be re-checked immediately. When this number was found wrong on re-check, the Telecom Department has ordered the telecom companies to shut it down as well.

The Department of Telecommunications had launched the Chakshu portal two months ago to hear complaints related to telecom fraud. Since the launch of this portal, the department has blacklisted fifty-two entities sending SMS with intent to commit financial fraud across the country, blocked 348 mobile handsets and directed to cross-check 10834 suspicious mobile numbers. Is.

Additionally, the Department of Telecommunications has blocked 1.58 lakh unique mobile device identification numbers IMEI for indulging in cyber crime and financial fraud or using fake documents to obtain mobile connections. Till April 30 this year, the Department of Telecommunications has disconnected 1.66 crore mobile connections, out of which 30.14 lakh connections have been disconnected on the basis of user feedback and 53.78 lakh connections have been disconnected due to increase in the individual limit for purchasing a new SIM. Earlier on Tuesday, the Department of Telecommunications had blocked a phone number which was being used in a financial scam. Besides, 20 mobile phones linked to this number were also blocked.
