Poisonous Liquor in Bihar: There has been a huge uproar over liquor in two districts of Bihar. The number of deaths due to drinking poisonous liquor has increased in Siwan and Chhapra districts. According to the police, 20 people have died in Siwan and 8 in Chapra. Thus far, 28 people have died, while more than 25 people are still ill. Most of them are being treated in Sadar Hospital of Siwan while some are being treated in Chapra. While some have been referred to Patna.

Three arrested in Chhapra, case registered against 8

Chapra police chief Ashish Kumar said, 'A special team has been formed to investigate this matter. Three people have been arrested and a complaint has been registered against eight people. As part of departmental action, clarification has been sought from Mashrak police station in-charge and ALTF in-charge of Mashrak area.

According to District Magistrate Mukul Kumar Gupta, legal action is being taken against Bhagwanpur police station and ASI of Bhagwanpur police station.

Administrative arrangements on 24 hour alert, announcement of helpline number

As soon as information was received that many people fell ill after drinking poisonous liquor, the administrative machinery including DM, SP also swung into action. Helpline number 06154-24 2008 has been announced by the system and people have been requested to immediately inform about the incident as well as the dead people. Apart from this, doctors of Sadar Hospital Siwan and Basantpur Health Center have been instructed to remain on alert 24 hours and arrangements for additional ambulances have also been made.

RJD attacked the government

The opposition has attacked the state government over the death of many people due to drinking poisonous liquor. RJD leader Mrityunjay Tiwari said, 'People have lost their lives due to drinking poisonous liquor. It is very sad and worrying that despite the prohibition law in Bihar, incidents of lathicharge are coming to light, how people are dying due to poisonous liquor.

RJD leader Mrityunjay Tiwari alleged, 'Liquor mafia has the protection of the government and as long as they have the protection of the government. Prohibition is in force but the prohibition law is being violated. The NDA government is not worried about this.
