Haldwani, 9 November (Hindustan Reporter). After the bugle of early holding of civic elections in the state, preparations have started in full swing in the Congress camp. Govind Singh Kunjwal, who was made in-charge for the civic elections in Haldwani, today took applications from the contenders for the seat of Mayor of Haldwani Municipal Corporation at Swaraj Ashram.
During this, 28 senior Congress leaders, while claiming for the Mayor's ticket, declared themselves worthy and advocated for the ticket for themselves. While many claimants lobbied for the ticket claiming their strong hold among the public, many claimants were seen asking for the ticket on the basis of their social service.
In-charge of civic elections, Govind Singh Kunjwal said that all the applications of 28 people who have applied for mayor's ticket will be sent to the high command. After that, whichever name is confirmed for the ticket by the High Command, all the party workers including all the remaining contenders will unite and contest the Mayor's candidate and put the Haldwani seat in the hands of Congress.
During this, hundreds of workers including MLA Sumit Hridayesh were present.
