25,753 teachers dismissed in West Bengal, salaries will have to be returned; Big blow to Mamata government from High Court

Kolkata: Mamata government of West Bengal has got a big blow from the High Court in the teacher recruitment scam case. In this case, Calcutta High Court has ordered the cancellation of 23,753 jobs. After this order of the High Court, all these teachers will have to return their salaries within four weeks. All these teachers will have to be paid with interest. A division bench of Justice Debanshu Basak and Justice Mohammed Shabar Rashidi directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to further investigate the appointment process and submit a report within three months. The bench also directed the West Bengal School Service Commission to start a new recruitment process.

The High Court has issued these orders against the teachers who got jobs in 2016. After this order of the High Court, there may be chaos in the election atmosphere. All these teachers can take to the streets. In this election environment, all these teachers can be seen agitating on the streets.

Let us tell you that in the teacher recruitment scam, former Education Minister Partha Chatterjee and many Trinamool officials as well as many officials of the State Education Department have also gone to jail. Many petitions were filed in the Kolkata High Court regarding this scam. The petitioners alleged that the candidates whose marks were less were given higher ranks in the merit list. Not only this, there were also some complaints in which it was said that some candidates were given jobs despite their names not being in the merit list.

ED and CBI are investigating

Following the Calcutta High Court order, both the ED and CBI are investigating the alleged irregularities. This scam is of the year 2014 and its process started in the year 2016. The then education minister was Partha Chatterjee. In the petition filed in the High Court, it has been claimed that in this recruitment scam, jobs were given to some candidates who had not even passed the TET exam. Whereas for teacher recruitment in the state, it is mandatory to pass TET exam. Similarly, the state received complaints regarding 13,000 Group D recruitments by SSC in the year 2016.
