Mumbai: A walk-in interview was held for the mega recruitment of 600 loaders in Air India at Kalina, Mumbai. More than 25,000 candidates turned up for the interview, leading to chaos and jostling. Fortunately, no major incident took place. In the end, the organisers accepted only the biodatas and sent the candidates back without conducting the walk-in interview.
The situation went out of control when twenty-five thousand candidates crowded the Mumbai airport for walk-in-interview and the airport authority and Air India staff were unable to handle the situation. A video of the jostling went viral in this regard, in which candidates are seen jostling with each other to reach the counter to collect the form. It was also reported that thousands of candidates stood in the queue for hours without eating or drinking anything and many candidates fell ill.
According to the details received, Air-India is currently conducting the recruitment process of loaders. Loaders are tasked with loading and unloading luggage and operating baggage belts and ramp tractors. Each aircraft requires at least five loaders for loading luggage, handling baggage and other tasks including delivery of food supplies.
A walk-in interview was organized by Air India to fill the post of 600 loaders outside Gate No. 5 of Air India Airport Services Ltd in Kalina, Mumbai. At this time, about 25 thousand candidates had come from various villages and cities of Maharashtra including Mumbai. Suddenly such a large number of candidates gathered here and there was a stampede everywhere. Apart from this, the situation went out of control due to the gathering of a large number of candidates. The airport authority and Air India administration were unable to control the crowd of candidates. When the situation went out of control, instead of interviewing the candidates, they were asked to vacate the airport area after submitting their biodata.
A total of 2700 vacancies are to be filled by Air India on various posts including loader, this recruitment is to be done in a phased manner.
