A train accident took place in Mathura, UP on Wednesday evening. A freight train overturned near Vrindavan Road railway station on the Mathura-Delhi railway route. 25 coaches derailed. Many climbed over each other. Due to which rail traffic between Mathura and Delhi has almost stopped. Routes of 15 trains have been diverted. The fourth line between Mathura-Delhi was started at 10:30 am, train services remained closed on the remaining three lines. Railway relief team and officials reached the spot as soon as the information was received. An investigation will be conducted to find out how the accident happened.
25 coaches of the goods train derailed
According to the information, goods train number STPB was carrying coal from Jharkhand to Suratgarh Thermal Plant. There were 59 coaches in this train. At around 07:54 pm, when the train passed about 800 meters ahead of Vrindavan Road Railway Station, the train derailed. About 25 coaches behind the engine derailed. The derailed coaches also fell on the up, down and third lines. The situation at the spot was such that many coaches were kept on top of each other.
As soon as the news of derailment of goods train was received, there was panic in the railway. Relief train was immediately dispatched to the spot. Railway DRM and station director reached the spot. It was found on the spot that the coupling of the engine was broken and about 25 coaches behind it had derailed.
The poles got bent, the lines got broken
Due to the overturning of the goods train, all the poles broke and the OHE line was broken. Apart from the down track, the poles and OHE of the up and third line are also affected.
Traffic on three of the four tracks
There are four railway tracks between Mathura and Delhi. Apart from the up and down tracks, the third line has also been affected due to this incident. Traffic was stopped on these three tracks. There was none of this on the fourth track.
The team is trying to remove the coach from the track
The focus of the railway is to clear the track first. Therefore, the railway has started removing the coaches from the track first. So that the track can be improved and rail traffic can be made smooth by improving the pillars and OHE.
Shatabdi passed through the fourth line
After the goods train derailed, traffic on all four lines was stopped. The fourth line seemed safe but first the railway officials tested it and then a goods train passed through it at around 10:30 pm. After its safe passage, the Jhansi to Delhi Shatabdi passed through this line.
