25 arrested so far after implementation of Model Code of Conduct

Ranchi, March 29 (Hindustan Reporter) Ranchi Police has arrested 25 people involved in illegal manufacturing and trade of liquor and illegal activities since the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct on behalf of the Election Commission. SSP Chandan Kumar Sinha said on Friday that to ensure free, fair, peaceful and safe Lok Sabha elections, a planned and intensive campaign is being conducted against illegal drugs, illegal liquor manufacturing, storage, trade and smuggling.

After the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct, FIRs have been registered against the destruction of opium cultivation in several acres of area in various police station and OP areas. In order to stop the manufacturing, storage and trade of illegal country liquor, liquor distilleries and Java Mahua have been destroyed. Also, legal action has been taken by confiscating liquor. The district police has achieved many successes in the actions taken so far.

During this period, 12.61 grams of brown sugar, 118 kg of opium, 657 liters of liquor and 300 kg of Java Mahua have been seized in the district. The value of the seized goods has been estimated at Rs 3 lakh 96 thousand 827. SSP said that while taking action against active brown sugar traders in the city, seven people have been arrested. These include Pawan Kumar, Komal Devi, Nitin Kumar Gupta, Mukesh Kumar Yadav, Rakesh Yadav, Harsh Kumar, Santosh Munda. Whereas Ashish Kujur has been arrested in the case of opium cultivation.
