232 kg heroin case from Gujarat, court sentenced 20 years imprisonment to 8 Pakistanis

Gujarat drug trafficking case : In 2015, 232 kg of heroin worth about Rs 7 crore was seized from the coast of Gujarat, now a special court in Mumbai has sentenced eight Pakistani nationals arrested in this case to 20 years imprisonment. Apart from this, the court has also imposed a fine of Rs 2 lakh each on all the culprits.

Eight Pakistani citizens sentenced to 20 years imprisonment

During the hearing of the case, Special Judge for NDPS Act case Shashikant Bangar found eight Pakistanis guilty in the drug case and sentenced them to a maximum sentence of 20 years. Along with this, the court has also imposed a fine of Rs 2 lakh on each convict.

During investigation, wheat colored powder was found to be heroin.

Let us tell you that in the year 2015, the Indian Coast Guard had seized 232 kg of heroin from the coast of Gujarat, which was worth approximately Rs 6.96 crore. Eight Pakistani nationals were bringing this quantity of heroin in a boat. The boat contained 11 drums, which contained 20 plastic pouches containing wheat-coloured powder, which upon testing was found to be heroin.

Information about goods seized from the accused

According to the information, three satellite phones, GPS navigation charts and other electronic devices have been seized from the eight accused. After this he was handed over to the Yellow Gate Police of South Mumbai. Special public prosecutor Sumesh Punjwani sought maximum punishment for the accused in order to send a strong message to drug smugglers. On the other hand, defense lawyer Naram Saja adopted a softer stance. After hearing the arguments of both the parties, the court took strict action and sentenced the eight accused to maximum punishment.
