These days, a video of an Indian origin girl living in London is becoming increasingly viral on social media. In this video, the woman has given a complete home tour of her very small 215 square feet studio apartment located in the famous Wembley Park area of London. But what attracted people’s attention more than the size of the house was its monthly rent, which is more than 1,850 pounds i.e. about ₹ 2 lakh per month in Indian currency.
Social media users are stunned to see the kitchen, bed and sitting area crammed into one room like a matchbox at such an expensive rent. The video was shared by content creator Arya Kothari (@arya_kothari) on her Instagram handle, after which it has become a topic of discussion and debate internationally.
Kitchen, bedroom and living area in one small room
In the video, when the content creator asked the woman about her rent, she candidly told that she pays 1,850 pounds (more than ₹2 lakh) every month. The total area of the house is just 215 square feet (about 24 yards).
Showing us the ins and outs of the apartment, she explained that the building partly functions as a hotel, but it also rents out studio flats for working professionals. There is a small open kitchen counter within the studio, where she prepares her food; There is a small sofa nearby and a bed in front. She said that it is a single open space, where her kitchen, living room and bedroom are all connected together. Although the space is very small, she has decorated it beautifully with books, fresh flowers, a painting from Paris and decorative items.

The girl is working in the Renewable Energy Trading sector in London. She openly admitted in the interview that she was paying more rent for this small flat than her capacity and fixed budget. When she was asked if she couldn’t return to India and live a more luxurious and comfortable life, she shared her reasons for staying in London.
The woman said that in India she could have undoubtedly lived in a bigger house, but London offers her personal freedom, global exposure and a unique opportunity to meet people from different cultures across the world. He also said that a person needs to earn at least 40,000 pounds (about ₹42 to ₹45 lakh) annually to live decently and comfortably in the city of London.
Rent of ₹2 lakh: Is this amount only for the room?
When it came to justifying this huge fare, the girl brought forward an interesting aspect. He admitted that if we look at the room of only 215 square feet, this rent does not seem reasonable at all. But the luxury amenities provided with this society and building make it worth it.

Many Indian users compared and wrote that for ₹ 2 lakh per month, one can get a luxurious 3BHK or 4BHK penthouse on rent in a posh area of Mumbai, Delhi or Bangalore, India. One user wrote, “Paying ₹2 lakh for 215 sqft is complete madness.”
Another user expressed concern over London’s housing crisis and said, “Rents in London are now out of reach for ordinary people.” However, some people praised the positivity of the woman and wrote that even though the space may be small, she has decorated her home very nicely and comfortably.
