2062 complaints of code of conduct violation registered in Maharashtra, goods and cash worth Rs 234 crore recovered

Mumbai, 1 November (Hindu). So far, 2062 complaints regarding code of conduct violation cases have been received during the Maharashtra Assembly elections, out of which 2059 complaints have been disposed of by the Election Commission. During the code of conduct, illegal liquor worth Rs 234 crore 49 lakh has been seized so far in the state. This information was given by the Chief Electoral Officer of the state on Friday.

The Chief Electoral Officer said that the Model Code of Conduct for the Assembly elections in Maharashtra is applicable from October 15, 2024. A total of 2062 complaints have been received on the C-Vigil app across the state from October 15 to November 1, 2024, out of which 2059 complaints have been resolved. Action is being taken by the Election Commission on other complaints. He said that the Election Commission has seized a total of goods and cash worth Rs 234 crore 49 lakh in cases of illegal money, liquor, drugs and precious metals etc. through various investigating agencies.

The Chief Electoral Officer said that the C-Vigil app, which helps alert citizens to follow the code of conduct, can be downloaded from any app store. Through this app, citizens can complain about violation of code of conduct. After registering the complaint, appropriate action is taken after investigation by the concerned team.
