2025 Tata Sierra vs Kia Seltos: ‘Legend’ is back in the Indian market. Yes, Tata has re-launched its famous Tata Sierra 2025, and seeing its looks, the people of the old era are feeling nostalgic, while the new generation is attracted by its ‘futuristic design’. But the competition in the field of mid-size SUV is not easy, because ‘Kia Seltos’ is already an established player here.
If you are confused between these two vehicles as to which one you should bring home, let us take a look at every aspect – from engine to features to price – so that you can make the right decision.
Who will be heavier on the pocket? (Price War)
Often we think that Tata’s car will be cheap, but there is a catch here.
Kia Seltos base model (HTE O) approx Rs 10.79 lakh (Ex-showroom).
At the same time, the starting price of the new Tata Sierra Rs 11.49 lakh (Ex-showroom) has been kept.
This means that the initial price of Seltos may be a little cheaper. However, in the top models both the vehicles reach around Rs 20 lakh. So the budget issue is almost a neck and neck race.
Engine and Power: Who is faster?
The Kia Seltos seems to have a slight edge here as it gives you a ‘buffet’ platter of options. You get 3 engine options in the Seltos – simple petrol (115hp), stormy turbo petrol (160hp) and reliable diesel. Gearbox options also include manual, iMT, DCT and automatic. If you are fond of driving, then you will like the turbo engine of Seltos very much.
At the same time, Sierra is like a sensible companion. It has a 1.5-liter petrol engine which gives power of 105 bhp. This is good enough for city driving and highway cruising. Tata has also given turbo and diesel options in it, and their new DCA gearbox makes it smooth.
Features: Who is smarter?
Tata Sierra has done wonders in terms of features. As soon as you sit inside it, you will feel that you are in a car of the future. You will get a double or triple screen setup on the dashboard, which looks very premium. Apart from this, there are features like panoramic sunroof, JBL’s excellent sound system and ventilated seats. ADAS is also provided in it for safety.
Seltos is also not far behind. Its connected car technology and screen layout is very responsive and user-friendly. But because the Sierra is fresh, its cabin feels more new and ‘upmarket’.
The final decision: which one to bring home?
The decision depends on your need:
- Choose Tata Sierra if: You want a fresh, muscular and unique looking SUV. If you believe in more space and Tata’s strong safety, then this car will not disappoint you. Its ‘road presence’ is much heavier than the Seltos.
- Choose Kia Seltos if: You don’t like experiments and want a tried and tested car. If you are very fond of driving and want different engine-gearbox options, then Seltos is still the king.
Both vehicles are great in their own right, now the ball is in your court!
