Also, people are sending Rs 2000 notes from any post office in the country to any issuing office of RBI for depositing them in their bank accounts. RBI has 19 offices for depositing/exchanging banknotes in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Belapur, Bhopal, Bhubaneswar, Chandigarh, Chennai, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Jammu, Kanpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Patna and Thiruvananthapuram. It is worth noting that Rs 2000 banknotes were introduced in November 2016 after the withdrawal of the existing Rs 1000 and Rs 500 banknotes from circulation.
