Dhamtari, 18 October (Hindustan Reporter). Illegal sale of Mahua liquor continues indiscriminately in the district. Illegal business is being done by making Mahua liquor in large quantities in forests and forest villages. On receiving the complaint, a joint team of officers and employees of Divisional Flying Squad Raipur and District Excise Dhamtari conducted a raid and took action against the accused, seizing 200 liters of Mahua liquor. Whereas 3400 kg Mahua Lahan was confiscated and destroyed.
Illegal business of making Mahua liquor in large quantities has been going on for a long time in many villages of the dense Vananchal Nagri block. Despite the action of police and excise, Mahua liquor is being sold and manufactured illegally. To tighten the noose on such people, from the morning of 18th October, under the guidance of Excise Divisional Flying Squad Deputy Commissioner Animesh Netam and District Excise Officer Prabhakar Sharma, Divisional Flying Squad and officers and employees of Dhamtari District Excise Department raided the forest of village Mathuradih and Saloni of Nagari block. So while taking action here, the employees have seized 200 liters of Mahua liquor. Whereas 3400 kg Mahua Lahan was seized and destroyed. District Excise Officer Prabhakar Sharma said that action has been taken against the unknown accused under the section of Excise Act. This action created panic among other Mahua liquor mafias of nearby villages. During the action, Assistant District Excise Officer Ajay Pandey, Excise Sub Inspector Purshottam Sinha, Rajendra Dewangan, Ajay Markande, Excise Head Constable Rajesh Yadav and other officers and employees were present.
