20 years imprisonment to the accused of raping a minor | News India

Haridwar, 20 August (HS). Additional District Judge and Fast Track Special Court Judge Chandramani Rai has convicted the accused youth in the case of luring and kidnapping a minor girl and repeatedly raping her. The court has sentenced the youth to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 15,000.

Government advocate Bhupendra Chauhan said that on 19 October 2019, at four in the morning, the accused youth lured and kidnapped a 16-year-old girl from Shyampur area. The youth is already married and father of four children. The victim had also taken cash and jewellery from her house. After a long search, a case was registered against the accused Gulfam son of Qayyum, resident of village Laladhang, Haridwar on the complaint of the victim's father. A year after the incident, the police caught the accused youth from Delhi and recovered the victim from his custody. After returning home, the victim told her family and the police the whole story. On which the police registered a case under rape and POCSO Act. The police arrested Gulfam and sent him to jail. The concerned investigator filed a chargesheet against the accused in the court. The government side presented eight witnesses in evidence.

The special court has directed to provide financial assistance to the victim from the Nirbhaya Cell as compensation. In her ordeal, the victim had accused the accused youth of luring her away and making her pregnant by raping her continuously, due to which the victim gave birth to the accused youth's daughter.
