20 years imprisonment and 65 thousand rupees fine imposed on the accused of raping a minor | News India


Jaunpur, 02 September (HS). The court of Additional Sessions Judge (POCSO) Umesh Kumar on Tuesday sentenced a youth accused of raping a minor 3 years ago to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs 65000 after he was found guilty.

According to the prosecution story, a person resident of Madiyahun police station area registered a case on 29 October 2021 that his minor daughter who was studying in class 9 was lured and kidnapped by Amit Gaur, a youth of Madiyahun police station area, with the help of his father on 23.10.2021. Later the victim gave a statement that Amit Gaur and his father took her in a four-wheeler and kept her at Amit Gaur's brother-in-law's house in Karnataka and Surat for a month. Amit used to rape her. Later she was left on the road due to which she survived by begging for a few days. The police investigated and presented the charge sheet in the court.

After examining the statements of the witnesses examined by Government Advocate Rajesh Kumar Upadhyay and the evidence available on the file, the court found the accused of rape, Amit Gaur, guilty under Section 376 of the Indian Penal Code and the POCSO Act and sentenced him to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment and a fine of Rs. 65,000.
