Chandigarh: After the announcement of assembly elections in Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir, all the parties are ready to enter the electoral fray. However, this time BJP is expected to face tough competition in the assembly elections. Within a few hours of announcing the first list of candidates in Jammu and Kashmir, BJP had to withdraw its name. Something similar has happened in Haryana as well. Within a few hours of the announcement of the first list of 67 candidates by BJP in Haryana, more than 20 leaders have resigned from the party. At the same time, BJP, which has accused other parties including Congress of nepotism across the country, has succumbed to 'nepotism' in the state.
Assembly elections are to be held in Haryana on October 5, in such a situation, BJP released the first list of 67 candidates on Wednesday night. Not even 24 hours have passed since the release of this list that there has been a spate of resignations one after the other in BJP. While the party has given a chance to some new faces in the first list, some leaders and ministers have been excluded. The result is that leaders and officials angry at not getting tickets have started resigning from the party.
Three big leaders of BJP, former Deputy Prime Minister Devi Lal's son and Cabinet Minister Ranjit Chautala, MLA Laxman Das Napa and BJP Haryana OBC Morcha state president Karnadev Kamboj have resigned. Apart from this, more than 17 other small and big leaders have also left the party without getting tickets.
The BJP ignored the candidature of Energy and Jail Minister Chaudhary Ranjit Chautala from Rania constituency of Sirsa district. A meeting of supporters was called after his name was not included in the first list of BJP. He said that after meeting with supporters, he has decided to contest the election as an independent. I have good relations with BJP. I am the son of Chaudhary Devi Lal. I have status in the party, but I do not know on whose advice the party has decided not to give me a ticket. Whoever gave this advice has harmed the party. He is expected to contest from Rania seat. BJP has fielded Shishpal Kamboj on this seat.
After resigning from the party, sitting MLA from Ratia reserved seat of Fatehabad district Laxman Das Napa met former chief minister and Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda at his residence on Thursday morning and said that he would join the Congress along with his supporters.
BJP Haryana OBC Morcha president Karnadev Kamboj has resigned from all party posts after not getting a ticket from Indri. The former minister said that he has served the party with full loyalty for years. But the party will no longer need loyalists. The party now ignores the years of service of the workers and gives tickets to those who have joined the party just a day or two ago. BJP has given ticket to former Sirsa MP Sunita Duggal from Ratia.
According to party insiders, after the first list was released, many other senior leaders are also not happy with this list. A wave of resignations has started in the party. The country's fourth richest woman Savitri Jindal was also among those who resigned from the party. She has announced to contest as an independent from Hisar.
However, to form the government for the third time in a row in Haryana, BJP has given in to nepotism. BJP, which has accused all parties including Congress of nepotism in all elections across the country, has given tickets to the children of five big leaders in the first list in Haryana, including Kiran Chaudhary and Kuldeep Bishnoi, who recently joined from Congress, former ministers Satpal Sangwan, Indrajit Singh. When the votes will be counted in Haryana on October 8, BJP has decided to contest the elections by making Nayab Singh Saini the face of the Chief Minister.
Many difficulties have arisen for BJP in Jammu and Kashmir too. Within a few hours of announcing the first list in Jammu and Kashmir, BJP had to cancel the list. Many leaders have also rebelled in Jammu and Kashmir. Senior leader Chandramohan Sharma has resigned from BJP and has decided to contest the election as an independent from Jammu East.
