Officials say that this year the temperature has increased drastically and severe heat continues to wreak havoc. The deceased Haj pilgrims are said to be from Jordan and Iran.

The temperature is reaching 40 degrees during the day

Every year millions of Muslims come to Saudi Arabia during the Haj pilgrimage and visit Mecca and Medina. Haj is one of the biggest religious events in the world. It is said in the Muslim community that Mecca and Medina are very holy places and all Muslims should go on Haj pilgrimage at least once. This year Haj pilgrims in Saudi Arabia are facing severe heat. The temperature is crossing 40 degrees during the day.

No official statement has been issued

At least 18 lakh Muslims are participating in Hajj this year. Many rituals are performed outside and on foot, due to which the elderly are facing many problems. At least 19 Hajj pilgrims are reported dead due to extreme heat. Although Saudi Arabia has not released any official information about this, the Jordanian Foreign Ministry said in a statement that 14 Jordanian pilgrims died during the Hajj pilgrimage and 17 others are missing. However, the cause of their death is not clear. On the other hand, Pirhossein Koulivand, head of the Iranian Red Crescent, said that so far five Iranian pilgrims have lost their lives in Mecca and Medina during Hajj this year. Iran also did not say how they died.

240 people died in the last Haj pilgrimage

However, this is not the first time. According to data released by various countries, at least 240 people died during Haj last year, most of them Indonesians, yet the causes of death were not reported. Last year, more than 10,000 people were hospitalized due to heat in the country. Of these, 10 percent people died due to heat.
