18th Mumbai International Film Festival concludes with a grand finale

The 18th Mumbai International Film Festival concluded on a grand note. More than 12,000 delegates attended the festival and a total of 314 films were screened here.

It is noteworthy that in the latest edition of the festival, delegates participated in an unprecedented manner and made the event a success by taking part in various screenings, discussions and masterclasses.

Through this festival, films from a total of 59 countries were screened in cities like Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai and Pune.

On the special occasion of the closing of the festival, Festival Director and Managing Director of NFDC Prithul Kumar expressed his happiness over the huge response received from the people for Mumbai International Film Festival this year. He said, “The huge turnout of people makes it clear that people's interest in documentaries, short films and animation films is increasing rapidly. The credit for the success of MIFF should also be given to the strong arrangements for organizing the event and the efforts to set new standards for the future editions.”

It is worth mentioning that many big personalities like Richie Mehta, Santosh Sivan, Daniela Walker, Ketan Mehta, Tushar Hiranandani, Alphonse Roy, T.S. Nagabharana and many others graced the event. The 18th MIFF was also praised for its excellent arrangements, tight security, easy accessibility and proper arrangements to protect from rain. Especially, providing training to volunteers for providing assistance, proper arrangement of ramps across the entire festival site made the experience of the participants even more pleasant.

For the first time, a Docu Bazaar was organised during this festival. While 108 projects were viewed live in the viewing room, 16 projects out of a total of 63 entries were selected for co-production. In this year's Docu Bazaar, 15 producers showed interest in producing documentary films, short films and animation films.
