181 educationists and chancellors of the country angry with Rahul Gandhi's statement, wrote in the letter – 'Stop spreading confusion'

Controversy has erupted over Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's statement regarding recruitment in the country's universities. He said, 'The appointment of the Chancellor is done on the basis of merit and on the basis of relations with some institutions.' Now 181 academicians and vice chancellors of the country have written a letter to Rahul Gandhi in this matter. In which it is written, 'From the statements of Rahul Gandhi, we have come to know that he is spreading the misconception that recruitment in the universities of the country is not done on the basis of merit but on the basis of relationships.'

The letter said- 'Do not spread confusion without any facts'

The Vice-Chancellors wrote in the letter, 'The appointment of Vice-Chancellors is done through a very strict, transparent process. For this it is seen what is the educational qualification of the person concerned. How much administrative efficiency is there and what vision does he have to take the university forward? We have professional experience and educational qualification is also important. This is considered in the selection process. We urge all those people not to talk about such fantasies. 'Don't spread misconceptions without facts'

More than 180 Vice Chancellors signed the letter

The letter issued against Rahul Gandhi also has signatures of more than 180 academicians and vice-chancellors. In which there are signatures of heads of Sangeet Natak Akademi, Sahitya Akademi, NCERT, National Book Trust, AICTE, UGC etc. The Chancellor says, 'If we look at global rankings, there have been significant changes in Indian universities.'
