Prayagraj, 29 October (Hindustan Reporter). Yogi government has made tremendous preparations for the safety of devotees and to control the crowd in Mahakumbh. In this, responsibility has been given to various forces, which also includes mounted police. During the Maha Kumbh Mela, mounted police personnel will be deployed in the fair area at all times and will keep patrolling.
More than 40 crore devotees and tourists are likely to come to Prayagraj during Mahakumbh. From January 13 to February 26, a large number of devotees will come to take a dip in the Sangam. Especially on major bathing dates, crores of devotees will be at the ghats of Ganga, Yamuna and Sangam at a time. The police have also made vigorous preparations to deal with any situation and have made a comprehensive action plan.
According to a senior police officer associated with the fair security, training of mounted police personnel has been conducted in various police lines of the state. This time, 180 mounted policemen will be deployed in Mahakumbh for crowd control. According to an officer, these mounted personnel prove to be more effective than the policemen providing security on foot. Especially a policeman sitting on a horse is able to keep an eye on a longer distance due to being at a height. As soon as he sees any suspicious situation, he can send a message not only to himself but also to other policemen and reach the designated place to bring the situation under control.
The police officer said that the mounted police personnel also have a psychological effect on the crowd. By applying less force they are able to control larger crowds. The horse to be deployed in Mahakumbh has also been named. They have been given names like Maharaja, Chetan, Bahubali. All the trained cavalrymen will be given a tour of the entire area before the start of the fair, so that they can get detailed information about the area.
