District Magistrate Chandra Vijay Singh has declared 18 gram panchayats of the district as TB free under the Prime Minister's TB Free Campaign to make the country TB free by 2025. There is not a single TB patient in these villages. On October 2, on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti, the District Magistrate honored the concerned village heads by giving them a bronze colored statue of Mahatma Gandhi and a citation.
In the year 2023, TB-free Gram Panchayat campaign was launched in Ayodhya district under the National Tuberculosis Elimination Program (NTEP), under which TB-free Gram Panchayat was selected. Dr. Sandeep Kumar Shukla, District Tuberculosis Officer said that before declaring the TB freedom of Panchayats, many parameters were checked. In this, testing of 30 potential TB patients per 1000 population, registration of one TB patient per 1000 population, at least 60 percent of the patients should have been tested for drug sensitivity, total TB cases registered last year. 85 percent of the patients should have recovered, etc. parameters were checked. In this work, along with the District Tuberculosis Officer, all the medical officers of the department, all the District Coordinators and all the personnel worked.
Gram Panchayat Rampur Atwara in Block Pura Bazaar of the district, Gram Panchayat Goydi, Tikra and Upadhyaypur in Milky Pur, Gram Panchayat Ishapur in Maya Bazaar, Ratanpur Tendua in Bikapur, Kundurkhakala in Amaniganj, Ranapur in Haringtonganj, Bara, Balrampur, Vedapur in Tarun. , Magharpur Kabirpur, Mijhauli Kisundaspur, Samvardhir, Shashipur, Kakarhi, Rampur Ahiruli and Purushottampur have been declared TB free gram panchayats.
Precautions to avoid TB: Those who have cough for more than two weeks, symptoms like sputum, blood in sputum, chest pain, night sweats, loss of appetite, weight loss etc. may have TB. Such patients should get their sputum tested free of cost at the nearest sputum testing center and upon confirmation of the disease, should take free medicines for the prescribed period.
