Ahmedabad: The deadly Chandipura virus has been wreaking havoc in Gujarat since the last week of June, with two more suspected cases from Chandipura in the last 24 hours taking the total number to 153. Another child died today, taking the total number of deaths in Chandipura in the state to 66.
According to the data of the Health Department of the Government of Gujarat, there are a total of 153 cases of viral encephalitis in the state. Of these, 16 cases have been found in Sabarkantha, 07 in Aravalli, 03 in Mahisagar, 07 in Kheda, 09 in Mehsana, 07 in Rajkot, 05 in Surendranagar, 12 in Ahmedabad Corporation, 08 in Gandhinagar, 16 in Panchmahal, 07 in Jamnagar, 06 in Morbi, 03 in Gandhinagar Corporation, 02 in Chhota Udepur, 04 in Dahod, 07 in Vadodara, 02 in Narmada, 06 in Banaskantha, 02 in Vadodara Corporation, 01 in Bhavnagar, 02 in Devbhoomi Dwarka, 04 in Rajkot Corporation, 05 in Kutch, 02 in Surat Corporation, 04 in Bharuch, 02 in Ahmedabad, 01 in Jamnagar Corporation, 01 in Porbandar, 01 in Patan and 01 in Gir Somnath.
Out of these, 06 cases are from Sabarkantha, 03 from Aravalli, 02 from Mahisagar, 04 from Kheda, 05 from Mehsana, 03 from Rajkot, 03 from Surendranagar, 03 from Ahmedabad Corporation, 02 from Gandhinagar, 07 from Panchmahal, 01 from Jamnagar, 01 from Morbi, 03 from Dahod, 01 from Vadodara, 01 from Banaskantha, 01 from Devbhoomi Dwarka, 01 from Rajkot Corporation, 04 from Kutch, 02 from Surat Corporation, 01 from Bharuch, 01 from Ahmedabad, 01 from Porbandar and 01 from Patan district/corporation. A total of 57 positive cases have been found in Chandipura.
In the above 153 cases, a total of 66 patients died in Gujarat State's Sabarkantha-05, Aravalli-03, Mahisagar-02, Kheda-02, Mehsana-04, Rajkot-04, Surendranagar-02, Ahmedabad Corporation-06, Gandhinagar-03, Panchmahal-07, Jamnagar-03, Morbi-04, Gandhinagar Corporation-02, Dahod-03, Vadodara-02, Narmada-01, Banaskantha-03, Vadodara Corporation-01, Devbhoomi Dwarka-01, Kutch-03, Surat Corporation-01, Bharuch-01, Jamnagar Corporation-01, Gir Somnath-01 and Patan-1.
- In Gujarat state, 19 patients of viral encephalitis are admitted and 68 patients have been discharged. There are total 06 cases in Rajasthan in which 04 patients are admitted and 02 patients have died. There are 04 cases from Madhya Pradesh in which 03 patients are admitted and 01 patient has died. Apart from this, -01 case is from Maharashtra in which -01 patient is admitted.
A total of 47,531 houses have been surveyed by the health team, which includes the houses and surrounding houses of positive and suspected patients.
- Dusting/spraying work with Malathion powder has been asked to be done intensively and promptly in all kutcha houses of all villages of the taluka where positive cases of viral encephalitis have been found. Also, all districts were asked to take preventive measures against vector-borne diseases.
- A total of 7,33,542 kutcha houses have been sprayed with Malathion powder
- Spraying has been done in a total of 1,49,203 kutcha houses.
- A total of 29,870 schools were sprayed with Malathion powder and a total of 6,714 schools were sprayed.
- A total of 34,724 antawadas were sprayed with Malathion powder and a total of 6,879 antawadas were sprayed.
