Dharamshala, 02 December (Hindustan Reporter). Union Minister of State for Women and Child Development Savitri Thakur said that 153 mini Anganwadis of Himachal Pradesh have been upgraded and converted into main Anganwadis. He informed that currently 539 Mini Anganwadi Centers are functioning in the State, and the State Government had sent a proposal to upgrade 153 Mini Anganwadis, which has been accepted by the Government of India.
Savitri Thakur gave this information in Parliament on Monday in response to a question asked by Dr. Rajeev Bhardwaj, Lok Sabha member from Kangra. He said that in view of the primary education and care of children, the Government of India has decided to upgrade all the mini Anganwadis working across the country to full-fledged Anganwadis under the ‘Saksham Anganwadi and Nutrition Programme’. Under this, one worker and one helper will be deployed in each Anganwadi centre.
He also informed that out of the total 1,16,852 Mini Anganwadi Centers in 23 States and Union Territories of the country, the process of upgrading Mini Anganwadis is underway in 20 States and Union Territories. As per the proposals sent, approval has been given to upgrade 86,351 mini Anganwadis into full-fledged Anganwadis.
