Presenting the Union Budget 2024-25 in the Lok Sabha, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said the government will incentivise 30 lakh youth entering the job market by contributing one month's PF. She announced that hostels for working women will be set up in the country to promote women's participation in the workforce. The Finance Minister said the government will provide funds to the private sector, sector experts and others to develop climate-friendly seeds.

The existing scheme – MNREGA (Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee) aims to provide 100 days of employment in a financial year to at least one member of every household.
