142 funerals in a day in Delhi

Delhi-NCR is suffering from severe heat and hot winds. 142 people have died due to heat wave and hot winds due to rising temperatures. Till 12 o'clock on the night of 19 June, 142 bodies have been cremated at Nigambodh Ghat.

So far in June this year, 1101 bodies have been cremated at Nigambodh Ghat. On Wednesday, it was the worst situation after Corona when the maximum number of bodies were cremated in a single day. The number of people dying due to heat and cold was worrying. There is a queue of bodies for cremation at Nigambodh Ghat in Delhi. Last year in June 2022, 1570 bodies were cremated at Nigambodh Ghat. This time so far 1101 bodies have been cremated. In such a situation, this figure is likely to be more than last year's figure. Here 1210 bodies were cremated in June 2021, 1570 in June 2022, 1319 in June 2023.

11 people died due to heat wave in Safdarjung Hospital in 24 hours. 33 patients were admitted here due to heat and cold, out of which 11 people died. According to the report of Center for Holistic Development, 192 homeless people died due to heat in Delhi between 11 and 19 June. 22 people died in the last 24 hours due to heat-related illness in Delhi. The number of people affected by heat wave is increasing in the city's RML, Safdarjung and LNJP hospitals.

The minimum temperature in Delhi broke the 55 year old record

The minimum temperature in Delhi broke the record of the last 55 years. According to the Meteorological Center located in Safdarjung, the minimum temperature on the night of June 18 was 35.2 degrees, which was 8 degrees more than normal. Which is the highest since 1969. On May 23, 1972, the minimum temperature was recorded at 34.9 degrees.

North and West India as well as East India have experienced double the number of hot winds.

There is a possibility of light rain in some areas on Thursday. A yellow alert has been declared for increasing heat again after June 23. The temperature is likely to rise to 45 degrees from June 23 to 25.

More than 1000 pilgrims died due to heat in Mecca

A severe heat wave in Saudi Arabia has claimed the lives of over 1,000 Hajj pilgrims in Mecca. More than 70 pilgrims from India have died due to heat. Most of the Hajj pilgrims died due to heatstroke during Rami al-Zamarat or the stoning of the devil event in the Mina Valley on the outskirts of Mecca.
