Mumbai: 14 tourists lost their lives while 31 people were injured in a horrific accident when a bus carrying 40 tourists from Maharashtra got stuck in a river in Nepal. All these tourists were found to be from Bhusaval taluk of Jalgaon district. Sources said that the Maharashtra government is in touch with the Indian Embassy in Nepal to rescue the victims and bring them back to India.
State government sources said that most of the passengers travelling in the bus are from Jalgaon. The Jalgaon District Magistrate is in touch with the District Magistrate of Maharajganj in UP and all efforts are being made to bring back the dead as well as the injured.
According to more information in this regard, 104 passengers from Rangaon, Pimpalgaon, Talvel villages of Bhusaval taluka of Jalgaon district of Maharashtra went to Nepal in three luxury buses between 16 and 28 August. These people reached Nepal two days ago after traveling to some places. These people were in Pokhara for two days and had left for Kathmandu today when one bus got stuck in the Marsyagdi river. The people traveling in the three buses are members of some families and there are also relatives among them. This incident has again brought mourning in the said villages of Bhusaval taluka.
Maharashtra Relief and Rehabilitation Minister Anil Patil said that the government is in constant touch with the Uttar Pradesh Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner and the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu after the tragedy. In this regard, Jalgaon NCP (SP) leader Eknath Khadse said that the people in the accident bus were from Varangaon in Jalgaon who had reached Nepal via Ayodhya four days ago. After the accident, he reached the homes of the accident victims and consoled them. He further said that his daughter-in-law and Union Minister Raksha Khadse will go to Kathmandu to bring back the victims. Khadse said that the death toll in the accident is expected to increase.
