13 nominations on last day, 19 candidates on three seats

Shimla, June 21 (HS). 19 candidates are in the fray for the by-elections to be held for three assembly seats in Himachal Pradesh. On the last day of filing nominations for the by-elections, 13 candidates filed their nominations. Five candidates filed nominations in Dehra, three in Hamirpur and five in Nalagarh. Now the nominations will be scrutinized on the 24th and the nominations will be withdrawn on the 25th and 26th. Voting for the by-elections will be held on July 10 and the election results will be declared on the 13th.

Election department spokesperson said that by-election process is going on for Dehra, Hamirpur and Nalagarh assembly seats in the state. For this, on the last day of nomination, 13 candidates filed nomination papers on Friday for all three seats. Among them, for Dehra assembly seat of Kangra district, Kamlesh (53) wife of Sukhwinder Singh, village Bhabran, post office Kitpal, tehsil Naidun filed nomination as Indian National Congress, Hari Om (66) son of Brahma Nand, village and post office Bhatoli Fakorian, tehsil Haripur, district Kangra filed nomination as Congress's covering candidate. For the same seat, Hoshiyar Singh (57), son of Amar Singh, village Dhawalu, Post Office Khadian, Tehsil Haripur, District Kangra filed his nomination on behalf of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Veer Singh (60), son of Kirpa Ram, village Marhera, Post Office Khabli, Tehsil Dehra filed his nomination as BJP's covering candidate and Advocate Sanjay Sharma (56), son of Desh Raj Sharma, village Samkar, Post Office Dhameta, Tehsil Fatehpur, District Kangra filed his nomination as an independent candidate.

For the Hamirpur Assembly seat, Dr Pushpinder Verma (48), son of Ranjeet Singh Verma, Pushp Kunj Shyam Nagar, Post Office Daduhi, Tehsil and District Hamirpur, filed their nominations as Indian National Congress candidates, Pradeep Kumar (58), son of Harnam Singh, Ward No. 8, House No. 243, Tehsil and District Hamirpur and Nand Lal Sharma (64), son of Jhakhu Ram, Village Hirapur, Post Office Auhar, Tehsil Jhanduta, District Bilaspur filed their nominations as independent candidates.

Similarly, for the Nalagarh Assembly seat in Solan district, Kishori Lal Sharma (46), son of Ram Lok Sharma, village Ambawala, post office Panjaihra, tehsil Nalagarh from Swabhiman Party, Uday Kumar Singh (46), son of Vidya Singh, village Nichla Kheda, post office Kheda, tehsil Nalagarh, Gurnam Singh (48), son of Jagar Singh, village Chuhuwal, post office and tehsil Nalagarh, Harpreet Singh (36), son of Avtar Singh, village and post office Rajpura, tehsil Nalagarh and Vijay Singh (36), son of Shyam Singh, village Manguwal, post office Rajpura, tehsil Nalagarh, district Solan have filed their nominations as independent candidates.

The spokesperson said that a total of 19 candidates have filed nominations for the assembly by-elections to be held on July 10 in Dehra, Hamirpur and Nalagarh. He said that a total of seven candidates are in the fray for the Dehra seat, four for the Hamirpur seat and eight for the Nalagarh seat.

The rebellious attitude of the former Congress candidate from Dehra has calmed down

Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu's wife has filed nomination as a Congress candidate from Dehra. Former Congress candidate Dr. Rajesh Sharma was also present on the occasion of nomination. Two days ago, Rajesh had protested against giving ticket to the Chief Minister's wife. He had said that he would contest the election as an independent, but now he has openly come out in support of the Chief Minister's wife. With this, the voices of rebellion among the Dehra Congress workers have calmed down.
