A cargo ship is stuck in the extremely turbulent and dangerous war zone of the Black Sea, which is now being called the ‘ship of death’. There are 13 Indian crew members (sailors) on board this ship, whose lives are in very serious danger at this time. Due to being stuck in the middle of the war zone, suicide drones and dangerous missiles are continuously passing over this ship. The situation is so frightening that for these Indian citizens, death seems to be standing just a few inches away every second.

This whole matter is about that part of the Black Sea where both Russia and Ukraine are continuously carrying out air and sea attacks on each other’s targets. The stranded Indian crew members have narrated their ordeal by sending very scary videos and messages. This ill-fated ship is stuck exactly under the route which the armies of both the countries are using to attack each other, due to which there is a possibility of a direct attack on it at any time.
Severe shortage of ration and drinking water

Due to being stuck in the war zone for the last several days, the food and drink ration available on the ship is almost on the verge of exhaustion. There is a severe shortage of clean drinking water and electricity supply is also intermittent. Due to mental stress and living under the shadow of death, the health of many crew members has started deteriorating, but it is currently impossible to reach any kind of medical help in this high-risk war zone.
Government of India and diplomatic channels became active
As soon as information about this very sensitive and serious matter was received, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in New Delhi has come into full action mode. Indian diplomats are constantly contacting the embassies and local authorities of both Russia and Ukraine so that these 13 innocent Indians can be evacuated safely by creating a safe maritime corridor. However, due to continuous bombing and presence of minefields in the war zone, conducting rescue operations is proving to be extremely complex and challenging.

Here in India, the families of the stranded crew members are in bad condition. The families of these sailors, hailing from different parts of the country including Mumbai, Kerala and Tamil Nadu, have joined hands and made an emotional appeal to the Government of India and the Prime Minister’s Office to bring back their children safely as soon as possible. The campaign to save these sailors has also intensified on social media. Security analysts say that unless ceasefire or any special rescue window is approved by both the countries, every moment is going to be heavy for these Indians.
