Lucknow, 20 May (HS). In the fifth phase of Lok Sabha elections 2024, voting is going on today from 7 am on 14 seats of Uttar Pradesh. A total of 12.89 percent voting took place on these seats in the first two hours. The highest turnout was in Banda at 14.57 percent while the lowest was in Gonda at 9.55 percent. There are queues of voters at polling places and peaceful voting is going on.
According to the data released by the Election Commission, voting is taking place in the 14 Lok Sabha general constituencies of Uttar Pradesh in the first two hours. Among them, Mohanlalganj (safe) 13.86 percent, Lucknow 10.39 percent, Raebareli 13.60 percent, Amethi (safe) 12.80 percent, Jhansi 13.61 percent, Banda 14.57 percent, Fatehpur 14.28 percent, Kaushambi (safe) 10.49 percent. , Voting took place in Barabanki (reserved) 12.73 percent, Faizabad 14.00 percent, Kaiserganj 13.04 percent and Gonda 9.55 percent. There are queues of voters at the polling places since morning. Amidst tight security, voters will all exercise their franchise till 6 pm. The fate of 144 candidates including Defense Minister Rajnath Singh from Lucknow Lok Sabha seat, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi from Rae Bareli, Union Minister Smriti Zubin Irani from Amethi and Niranjan Jyoti from Fatehpur will be decided on these 14 seats.
Along with this, by-election is also being held on one assembly seat Lucknow East. Lucknow East Assembly seat had become vacant due to the death of MLA Ashutosh Tandon on November 9, 2023 last year. Voting is being held on this seat along with the fifth phase of Lok Sabha elections. Till 9 o'clock in the by-election on this seat, 10.88 percent voting took place.
