11 injured in tanker-truck collision, 35 in critical condition

Jaipur: Eleven people were killed and more than 35 injured, while 29 others were injured when an LPG tanker truck collided with an LPG tanker on Rajasthan’s Jaipur-Ajmer highway in the early hours of Friday morning. Therefore, there is a possibility of the death toll increasing. The accident was so horrific that within a few minutes more than 40 vehicles were destroyed and flying birds were also killed. The state government has given Rs 2 lakh each to the families of the deceased. Financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh each has been announced. Jaipur Police Commissioner Biju George Joseph said an LPG tanker was taking a U-turn in front of a school at Bankrot on the Jaipur-Ajmer Highway due to fog at 5.30 am when it met with an accident with a truck, in which the outlet nozzle broke. . The LPG tanker was damaged, causing gas leakage and fire.

After receiving information about the incident, fire tenders were sent from Mansarovar. Apart from this, a team of officials from the Regional Transport Office and a team from the Forensic Laboratory reached the spot and conducted the investigation.

Commissioner Joseph said that at the time of the accident, the vehicles following the tanker also got caught in the fire. Vehicles coming from the opposite direction also came under fire. The fire was so severe that the drivers barely got a chance to get out. The injured were taken to SMS Hospital in Jaipur in more than 25 ambulances. Hospital Dr. Maheshwari said that 43 people were taken to the hospital, out of which seven have been put on ventilator.

Eyewitnesses said that a sleeper bus carrying 34 passengers also met with an accident, leaving 20 of the 34 passengers of the bus burnt to death while 14 passengers and the driver and conductor are missing.

As soon as the news of the accident was received, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma reached the spot. The Rajasthan government has given financial assistance of Rs 10,000 each to the families of the deceased. 5-5 lakhs and the injured got Rs. An assistance of Rs 1 lakh was announced. President Draupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Rajasthan Governor Haribhau Bagde and former Chief Minister Ashok Singh Gelhot expressed grief over the victims of the accident. PM Narendra Modi donated Rs. 10,000 to the families of the deceased from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund. 2 lakh and the injured were given Rs. 50,000 have been announced. PM Modi also spoke to Chief Minister Bhajan Lal regarding the incident and assured him of all possible help.

Eyewitnesses said that the fire was so terrible that even some birds flying in the sky got burnt, whose bodies were found near the incident site. Some people said that due to gas and smoke, people’s eyes started getting irritated and they started having difficulty in breathing. About one km from the incident site. Around 40 vehicles, including several trailers, trucks and containers, two buses, two pickup vans and bikes, auto rickshaws and seven cars were engulfed in the fire.
