How much of India's gold is still abroad?
According to information received from sources, 324 tonnes of India's gold is kept in the Bank of England and the Bank for International Settlements. The Bank of England provides safe custody for the gold reserves of the UK and other central banks and is also the second largest gold custodian after the New York Federal Reserve. Talking about Bullion Warehouse, it was constructed in the year 1967. Later it was expanded to many countries also.
1 lakh kg gold was brought to India in the month of May
In May of the same year, one lakh kg of gold was brought to India from Britain. Meanwhile the officials said this. Bringing 100 tonnes of gold to India involved mutual coordination between the Finance Ministry, the RBI and other branches of the government, including local authorities. The entire process of bringing gold was kept secret. Besides, tight security arrangements were also made. For this the RBI was exempted from customs duty, the Center had to forego revenue on this sovereign asset but there was no exemption from integrated GST on imports, as the tax is shared with the states. A special plane was arranged because 1 lakh tonnes of gold could not fit in any normal plane.
Where is one kilo of gold kept?
Let us tell you that within the country, gold is kept in the old office building of RBI in Nagpur along Mint Road in Mumbai. There are strict security arrangements at both these places. Security guards are deployed here 24 hours a day. In such a situation, it is being speculated that the gold brought from Britain might also have been kept here. However, no official information has been given yet.
