Ranchi, September 19 (HS). The court of Additional Justice Commissioner Vishal Srivastava on Thursday sentenced Binod Ram, convicted in the rape case, to 10 years of rigorous imprisonment. He has also been fined Rs 10,000. If he does not pay the fine, he will have to serve one year of imprisonment. Binod is a resident of Obaria Nayak Tola of Airport Police Station. The incident was committed on March 26, 2020.
According to the FIR lodged, when the girl had gone to the mill to get the paddy threshed, the young man lured her and took her to the litchi orchard near the pond and had physical relations with her. He threatened that if she told anyone about the incident, she would lose her life. The victim's father came to know about this incident three days later on March 29. After this, the victim lodged a named FIR against the young man at the Airport Police Station. The police arrested the accused youth on March 31, 2020 and sent him to jail. During the hearing in the case, seven witnesses including the victim were presented by the prosecution.
