10 newborns died due to fire in the Infant Intensive Care Center of Jhansi Medical College, Chief Minister asked for investigation report within 12 hours.

Jhansi, 16 November (Hindustan Reporter). A fire broke out at the Neonatal Intensive Care Center at Jhansi Medical College in Uttar Pradesh at around 10.45 pm due to short circuit. 10 children admitted at the center died in this accident. 37 children were rescued safely. The incident is being investigated under the leadership of Divisional Commissioner and DIG. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has given instructions to submit its report within 12 hours.

District Magistrate Avinash Kumar, who reached the medical college, said that prima facie, according to the medical college staff present, the death of 10 children has been confirmed. A total of 54 children were admitted in the Neonatal Intensive Care Centre. The fire probably occurred due to short circuit. There was difficulty in saving the children who were admitted inside. The children admitted outside were evacuated safely.

He said that the incident is being investigated by a team formed under the leadership of Divisional Commissioner Vimal Dubey and DIG Kalanidhi Naithani. Its report will be submitted to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath within 12 hours. DIG Kalanidhi Naithani said that the fire has been brought under control. Divisional Commissioner Vimal Kumar Dubey said that the fire broke out in the inner part. Most of the children have been saved. Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak is also said to be visiting the medical college.
