The most grand and ambitious mythological film in the history of Indian cinema, ‘Ramayana Part 1’ is all set to create a historic tsunami at the box office even before it hits the big screen. Made under the production of Namit Malhotra and direction of Nitish Tiwari with an unprecedented budget of Rs 4000 crore, there is tremendous craze among the audience for this epic. The eagerness to see Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor in the divine form of Lord ‘Shri Ram’ has resulted in unprecedented rush at the ticket counters as soon as the advance booking window opened. There are still 13 days left for the release, but the pre-sales reports of the film have surprised film analysts and cinema lovers. Within two days, the film has not only sold more than one lakh tickets, but has also started setting new standards of record-breaking earnings in both domestic and foreign markets.
According to the official tracking data released by Sacnilk.com, as soon as advance booking started on October 20, 2026, the film had collected Rs 5.44 crore by registering sales of more than 92 thousand tickets in the first 24 hours. On the second day, by Thursday evening, this figure jumped to more than 1 lakh 32 thousand tickets in more than 115 major cities. The total advance booking collection of the film including block seats has now reached a grand mark of Rs 7.41 crore. The craze for the film is at its peak in the National Capital Region (Delhi-NCR), where ticket sales worth Rs 1.86 crore alone have been recorded. The opening weekend shows of many major IMAX and 3D screens in major metro cities like Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Kolkata are already reaching housefull status.
‘Ramayana Part 1’ is releasing simultaneously across India in 6 major languages - Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and English. If we analyze the figures on linguistic basis, the audience’s enthusiasm is most intense in the Hindi version, where the film has so far earned a gross advance of Rs 6.63 crore. There is a huge stir in South India also regarding the character of ‘Raavan’ of KGF fame superstar Yash. In Yash’s home market i.e. Kannada version, the film has collected Rs 42.06 lakh from pre-booking, while in Telugu language the film has crossed the mark of Rs 17.29 lakh. The pace of advance booking is also increasing in Tamil and Malayalam markets, which clearly indicates that there is a similar pan-India wave regarding the film from North to South.
Apart from the domestic box office, the echo of ‘Ramayana’ is being heard in global theaters also at the international level. The film’s opening-day pre-sales in the overseas market have crossed the business of around Rs 4.98 crore. The biggest jump for the film overseas is being seen in the circuits of North America (USA and Canada), where Indian expatriates and Hollywood fantasy cinema lovers have already booked big shows on the first day. The popularity of Sai Pallavi, who plays the sacred role of Maa Sita alongside Ranbir Kapoor, and Yash’s global appeal have brought this epic at par with Hollywood level fantasy projects. Foreign trade pundits believe that the visual effects created by Namit Malhotra’s VFX studio DNEG are increasingly drawing western audiences to theatres.
The film has so far been allotted over 3,721 shows across India, the number of which is expected to double as its release approaches. This grand film, made under the skillful direction of Nitesh Tiwari, will be released in theaters across the world on the holy festival of Diwali on 5th November 2026. The makers have taken a strategic decision to present it in two huge parts, the first part of which will lay the foundation of the life of Maryada Purushottam Shri Ram and the conflict between Ravana’s Lanka, while the final and decisive second part will be released in theaters on Diwali of the year 2027. Looking at the speed with which the audience is taking part in advance booking, it is believed that many old records in the box office history of Indian cinema are going to be completely destroyed on the opening day.
