Kolkata, July 19 (HS). BSF (Border Security Force) has made a big seizure of gold for the second time in a row on the India-Bangladesh border of West Bengal. The soldiers of the border post Tentulberia of the fifth battalion of BSF have arrested a smuggler in the border area of North 24 Parganas district, who had 10 gold biscuits. The total weight of the seized gold is 1.166 kg and its estimated value is Rs 87 lakh 24 thousand 672. BSF South Bengal spokesperson DIG AK Arya gave information about this on Friday. He told that
On July 18, the jawans of the border outpost Tentulberia received specific information about gold smuggling. Acting on this, a special naka checking was set up under the supervision of the company commander. During the checking, a suspicious Indian citizen was caught with 10 gold biscuits. The suspect was going to deliver this consignment from Gopalpur area to an unknown person in Bangaon. The arrested person has been identified as Rakesh (name changed), a resident of Puratan Bangaon. During interrogation, he told that he had taken this gold from an unknown person near Gopalpur bus stand and was going to hand it over to another person in Bangaon. He would have got two thousand rupees in return for this work.
The arrested smuggler and the seized gold have been handed over to the Customs Department Petrapole for further action.
