कांग्रेस किसान आंदोलन भारत बंद का समर्थन करती है : दीपक बैज – News India Live

Raipur, 15 February (HS). Congress has supported the farmers' movement and the Bharat Bandh of 16 February. State Congress President and MP Deepak Baij said that Congress stands with the food providers of the country. It is unfortunate that the Indian farmer is standing helpless in a country of farmers.

Deepak Baij has reminded Narendra Modi's promise of giving MSP (minimum support price) on crops to farmers before the 2014 Lok Sabha elections. He also strongly condemned the forceful stopping of farmers going to march to Delhi. He reminded that out of 201 recommendations of the Swaminathan Commission, the UPA government had implemented 175 recommendations. Among the remaining recommendations, the most important one related to the minimum support price was announced by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday.

Deepak Baij said that before becoming the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, when he was the Chief Minister of Gujarat, had emerged as a great advocate of Minimum Support Price. In March 2011, while being the Chief Minister of Gujarat, Narendra Modi, being the chairman of the Report of Working Group on Consumer Affairs, had said that if MSP is ensured, then farmers will be encouraged to increase production. In this report it was said that MSP should be implemented. While campaigning in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, Narendra Modi made a false promise of giving minimum support price to farmers and 50 percent profit on the cost of production, after which he became the Prime Minister.

Prime Minister Modi's lies came to light when an affidavit was filed in the Supreme Court regarding the Minimum Support Price, in which the Modi government clearly said that 50 percent profit on the cost of production can never be given to the farmer. On July 3, 2016, the Union Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare said in written response to an RTI that 50 percent profit on the cost of production of crops could lead to market distortion. Prime Minister Modi not only broke his promise, but also paved the way for the farmers and called them unruly. Be it the BJP's manifesto of 2014 or the recommendation of Chief Minister Modi's committee, the Modi government has turned its back on giving legal guarantee to MSP.

Baij said that last time when farmers were protesting against three black laws, Prime Minister Modi had apologized to them and said that I will withdraw all three laws. A committee will soon be formed to find a solution to the problem of minimum support price. Today it has been more than two years since these things happened, no committee has been formed. Today, when farmers are again protesting over the minimum support price, rubber bullets are being fired at them, tear gas shells are being fired, and nails are being laid on the roads.

Deepak Baij said that the atrocities and injustice done to farmers by BJP and Modi government has not been done by any government after independence. Prime Minister Modi should also apologize for lying to the farmers, calling them terrorists and foreign agents.
