You will be shocked to know why Shahbaz Sharif suddenly declared “Emergency in Pakistan” | News India

Shahbaz Sharif's government in Pakistan has surprised everyone by suddenly declaring an emergency. The emergency was imposed on the occasion of International Literacy Day. It is being said that this is a kind of 'education emergency'. Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif declared an 'education emergency' with the intention of providing education to 2.60 crore children deprived of schools in the country. Pakistan's state-run Associated Press reported that Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif announced this step and urged the private sector and civil society organizations to support the government.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader, 72-year-old Shehbaz reiterated his commitment to push the education agenda and strive for an informationally strong and sustainable nation. “We have declared educational emergency across the country, launched admission drive for students and introduced mid-day meals for children in schools,” he said. He said literacy is a basic human and constitutional right that guarantees the future of our country. He said literacy is not just the ability to read and write but it is a “gateway to empowerment, economic opportunity and active participation in society”.

Such an emergency was imposed 3 months ago as well

Earlier in May, Shehbaz Sharif had also declared an education emergency and promised to enrol about 26 million out-of-school children. The United Nations agency UNESCO has highlighted that three out of four children in developing countries cannot read or understand basic text by the age of 10, and there are still 754 million adults illiterate worldwide, two-thirds of whom are women.
