Lance Naik Yogesh Kumar, who was martyred while fighting terrorists in Anantnag, Jammu and Kashmir, will be cremated today. Yogesh Kumar, a resident of Churu, was martyred while fighting in the ongoing army operation to eliminate terrorists in Anantnag. As soon as the news of Yogesh’s martyrdom was received, the entire district was shocked. Lance Naik Yogesh Kumar of 14 RR had joined the Army under sports quota nine years ago. After the martyrdom of his only son, Prithvi Singh said that if he had 4 sons, I would have sent all of them to serve the country, now I will prepare my grandson for recruitment in the army.
Were stationed on the top of the hill during the search operation
Martyr Yogesh Kumar’s uncle Randhir Singh told that Yogesh was recruited as Havildar in 18 Cavalry Battalion (I) in 2013 from sports quota. Yogesh’s grandfather was also in the army. Dharmendra Chimpi, friend of Yogesh Kumar who was martyred in the search operation in Anantnag, said that Yogesh was very brave and courageous.
Yogesh was the only son of his parents
Yogesh Kumar was deployed on the hill during the search operation on Saturday night and between 11.30 and 12 noon he had a direct encounter with the terrorists. Yogesh was martyred after being shot by terrorists. Army officer Captain Dilip Singh said that the mortal remains of martyr Yogesh are likely to reach Delhi at 9.30 am on Monday and Rajgarh at around 2.30 am.
Martyr Yogesh, born to Prithvi Singh, was the only son of his parents. He was deputed to 14 Rashtriya Rifles, out of the 18 cavalry battalions of the army. He was martyred while fighting terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday night. Yogesh is survived by a four-year-old son and a nine-month-old daughter. His wife is working as GNM in the Health Department.
