World Cup 2023: ODI World Cup 2023 is not far away. The 13th season of the ICC tournament is to be played in India from October 5. A total of 10 teams are entering it. 48 matches will be played in the tournament which will run till 19 November. Four players were in the running for a place in the team for the World Cup. One even got a place in the team, but was later dropped. Here we are talking about Yuzvendra Chahal, Sanju Samson, Jason Roy of England and Marnus Labuschagne of Australia. Apart from this, Pakistan’s vice-captain Shadab is facing a big problem before the World Cup. The vice-captaincy of the team can be taken away from him. Shaheen Afridi may get this responsibility.
BCCI announced the Indian team for the 3-match ODI series against Australia late on Monday evening. Senior bowler R Ashwin has also been given a place in this. This is being seen as a big change before the World Cup. On the other hand, leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal was once again ignored. Chahal has expressed his pain on being out of the team many times. Wicketkeeper batsman Sanju Samson also failed to make a place. His record in ODIs has been better than Suryakumar Yadav.
Surya was also fielded against Bangladesh in the Asia Cup, but was unsuccessful. Suryakumar Yadav is also included in the World Cup team. Chahal and Samson have also been dropped from the Asian Games team. The youth team is being sent to China for the games under the leadership of Ruturaj Gaikwad.
Young player got place
England’s explosive batsman Jason Roy was included in the 15-member team announced by the England and Wales Cricket Board for the World Cup, but now it has been changed. Roy has been dropped from the team. Young batsman Harry Brook has been included in his place. Brook has also scored a century in IPL. He is known for his aggressive batting. Apart from this, if we look at the Australian team, Marnus Labuschagne could not make it to the World Cup team.
Recently he batted brilliantly on the South Africa tour. Travis Head has a fracture in his hand. He has also been out of the ODI series against India since September 22, when Labuschagne is in the team. In such a situation, if he is successful in performing well in the series, he can also return to the team.
Spin bowlers failed miserably
Shadab Khan is counted among the best all-rounders in the world. But he could not perform anything special in the Asia Cup. Leg spinner Shadab could take only 6 wickets at an average of 40. Whereas India’s left arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav performed brilliantly and took 9 wickets and also became the player of the match of the tournament. Sri Lanka’s young spinner Dunith Velalej took 10 wickets. Leg spinner Abrar Ahmed can be included in Pakistan’s team for the World Cup.
